Wildlife skills workshop for game-wardens in Golestan National Park
At the last days of October 2010? A wildlife skills workshop was held in Golestan
National Park for the Department of Environment game-wardens.
Mohamad soofi, a member of the Plan for the land society, who had the responsibility
of organizing the workshop, told us about the reasons of choosing that park as the
host of this workshop:
The Golestan National Park is the best of National Parks of Iran for it’s rich biodiversity
and because of its vast. It has the most number of plant and animal species among
protected areas of Iran. Today, this park faces many threats such as illegal hunting
and problems caused by the road which passes through the park. Hence, we in Plan
for the Land Society tried to illustrate the ecologic relations between plants and
animals and their importance to the game-wardens to encourage them in better protection
of this park.
For this reason, more than 90 percent of the park game-wardens attended.
In this workshop, topics such as mammal’s ecological relationships, insects, plants
and mushrooms of Golestan National Park were presented that were highly welcomed
by the game-wardens. In future, training programs of this kind with new topics will
be held for game-wardens of Golestan National Park.
