Attractions of Khordad (May - June)
1- Wild Sheep's breeding season: After about 4 months of pregnancy, Wild sheep breeding
season occur when the vegetation is in the best situation comparing other time of
the year. This season varies between different habitats of Iran, e.g. in Southern
parts it is in March-April and in the North it is May-June. Lamb is fully dependent
on their mother until 4 months and they become independent in 1.5 years.

2- Ledebour Lily: Damash area with 0.6 ha is the unique site of this species in
Iran. Located in Gilan province, each year during June, many eco-tourists are attracted
to this National Natural Monument.
3- Mangrove tree flowering: During May is time for Mangrove tree flowers to flourish.
The seeds could be transferred by tide and placed in suitable muddy substrate. There
are some collaborative activities taking place in Hormozgan province for planting
Mangrove forest by local communities.
4- Shimbar Protected Area: This protected area in Khuzestan province has great fauna
and flora diversity. Astonishing scenery is the characteristic of this body of land.
5- Jungle Cat: One of the 8 wild cats of Iran, Jungle cat has great distribution
and number especially around wetland s and cultivated areas. Rodents contain the
main preys of this medium size cat.

6- Tandureh National Park: This National Park with area of over 355 sq km has steep
cliffs and deep valleys. This area is one of the best places for observation of
Persian leopard in the wild. Other than leopard, Wild sheep, Bezoar goat, wild cat,
Pallas cat, Jungle cat, Lammergeier are present at fairly good numbers in the Park.


7- Lisar Protected Area: This protected area is located in 2 provinces (Gilan and
Ardebil) with tree different habitat of mountains, high grasslands and plains. Neor
lake is located in this area which during winter it covers with ice. Ice-fishing
is a good sport during winter there.
8- Spoonbill: This water bird breeds in May. Mangrove forests in Hormozgan and wetlands
of Fars province are the best habitats for observation of them making nests and
lying eggs.

9- Onagers Breeding Season: May is the time of breeding in Onagers. This unique
subspecies of Asiatic Wild Ass has a restricted distribution just in Iran. Touran
Protection complex and Bahram'gur Protected Area are the last strongholds of this
population in the world with numbers not exceeding 1000.


10- Goitered Gazelle: This marvelous creature once roamed the vast plains of central
Iran, wherever sufficient pasture and water was present. Nowadays by ever-increasing
agricultural land conversion and poaching the populations of this gazelle is extremely
restricted to few protected area. During warm season, they are more visible around
water holes in dusk and dawn.
